Heartwood Equestrian Center (HEC) at Peppergrass Farm is a Full Service Equestrian Facility with a fully insured professional staff. Conveniently located just 5 miles off of I-95, our facility sits upon 137 of the most beautiful acres in Dixmont, Maine. Come ride or train in rolling hills of the cross-country course. Do trot sets or choose from a variety of jumps to school. And with our access to miles of trails in the area, it's easy to see why HEC is an excellent location to board your horse.
Our boarders enjoy a spacious 100ft. x 180ft. Indoor Riding Arena, which is attached to a 28-stall barn, making those cold winter days a little more tolerable. We also offer an Outdoor Riding Arena that measures 100ft. x 200ft.
Our property has multiple options for turnout, from small, individual paddocks to large, managed pastures where the horses get to enjoy grazing with their friends. Each turnout space has constant water available, with either automatic waterer or individual water tubs, all of which are heated in the winter.
The barn has a heated Tack Room and Rest Room, as well as, a heated Wash Stall that is available year round. Every spacious stall has its own individual water supply that is heated in the winter. Our barn is a steel-framed structure with Fire Resistant Insulation. We do not store hay over the top of the horses, which creates a safer, lighter and healthier open atmosphere in the barn. The aisles are wide and there is access from four doors.
Hay and grain are included in the boarding rate and is not limited. Each horse has its own customized feeding program (supplements are fed, but not provided). Horses are brought in by our staff for Veterinary and Farrier visits and reasonable blanketing is provided during season changes. Our staff also utilizes fly masks and fly spray when it is provided.
Speaking of flies ..HEC uses Fly Eliminators to help keep the fly population at bay. As an added measure, we have all manure hauled away off premise.
